After I bought my WoW Battlechest package for 33 EUR at a pretty big vendor for consumer electronics I went home as fast as possible to finally create my brand new character. For everyone who’s interested in the Battlechest package here quickly its content:
- WoW game DVD + manual
- WoW Addon The Burning Crusade + manual
- Gameguide to the original WoW
- Gameguide to The Burning Crusade
Now three big question: What race, class and server should I choose? For me those questions were pretty simple. As I already mentioned in „about this blog“ I just love PvE. What I like most is helping others, i.e. my friends and clan/group/guild mates. I also always wanna be the guy who stays in the first line when it comes to killing a mob or doing a raid. Therefore I chose being a warrior, more precisely a Warrior Tank. Now I just had to find a cool race to go with my new role. What race fits this profile better than a Draenei
? They look incredibly cool, are pretty strong and big but still communicate pure goodness. I baptized him Hekthor. For I like MMORPG’s because of the possiblity to meet new, exciting people I chose an Englisch German speaking European server. I chose Doomhammer Mannaroth.
Once I started the actual game I first needed some time to get used to the new interface, controlls and environment. After playing Lineage II for quite some time, it wasn’t that easy to adapt to a different MMORPG. I must say that what first bothered me most about WoW was its graphics. Lineage II used some pretty dark and realistic looking graphics while WoW graphics are rather comic-like and colorful. The biggest advantage of WoW – graphics wise – is its huge and very rich envirnonment. Everywhere you see animals hunting, people talking or trading, birds or similar creature flying around, dozens of different trees and plants and so on… it’s really great! I catch myself pretty often just looking at the environment and taking screenshots like a tourist on vacation
. And then I remind myself: I am on vacation! Whenever I enter the world of a MMORPG – particularly WoW – I am taking a time off my work/life/stress in real life to enjoy being someone completely different for just a while. I get a pretty similar feeling whenever I’m going to the gym but like I said… similar… not quite as beautiful as with WoW.
Anyway, after the first kills and easy quests I was ready for more… much more
